Constipation and prenatals

I stopped taking prenatals because I felt like they made me sicker and caused me to be very constipated. The doctor said I could just take folic acid for the baby. Think that will be OK? First time mom and I want baby to be healthy. But I could barely survive taking them.

I now take B6 and Unisom. Starting to eat again but barely. These are the growing and development months and I feel like I’m hurting my baby.

Folic acid is the most important thing you get from a prenatal, and it’s very important to a growing baby. Personally, I’d try a couple of other types of prenatals that also have iron and DHA in them, as those can be beneficial as well. Mine make me a bit nauseous but nothing unmanageable, and I just take them at night so I mostly sleep through feeling kinda gross.

The baby gets what it needs from you. Itll take away from your nutrients and your bones. The baby will always get what it needs regardless, just take folic acid

They really are parasites so best to stock up on your own nutrients.

My OB said she had a patient whose baby literally sucked the marrow out of the mother's bones and caused broken bones.

I take a prenatal without iron and it doesn’t cause any constipation!

Youll be ok. You can always start taking them once you feel better. The folic acid is important so keep taking that.. i know how it feels when nothing makes you feel better. The b6 and unisom makes me throw up too... idk why its just harsh on my stomach or something. I was taking magnesium supplements for constipation.. had to take 6 today (lol) but i had my first good shit in about a week so im thankful
