Boy and girl in separate rooms?

I lived in NY from birth-22y.o I could swear I remember hearing that by law boys and girls are required to have there own room after they reach a certain age? Like 5 or something?? It might have been something I remember hearing as a child and maybe it was just a preference of my Mom's and not an actual law, or CPS required it for a certain case, I'm not sure where/when/how I heard it.

We are moving to VA soon and I have boy/girl 1 y.os and a 2 bedroom house. I brought it up to my MIL (who lives in VA) and she has never heard of it, although she had only 1 child. Doez anyone know if this is a thing in VA? We will be looking for a 4bdroom house soon after moving back anyways but just curious!
