This is my friends baby who was born at 24 weeks due to the placenta separating from the baby. She was under a pound at birth. This is her at three months old (adjusted age). This picture was taken a couple of months ago when they were trying her on oxygen. Since then she has returned to a CPAP machine due to not having the ability to breathe on her own. She has had bleeding on the brain since birth and two heart surgeries thus far to put stints in her heart. She was seemingly doing well for a while then stopped breathing and was put in a medically induced coma until her recent heart surgery. She is now 8 mos (5 mos adjusted age) and weighs 11 lbs 7oz. She is currently being held at the NICU since birth with no discharge date set yet. They recently found out that she has a lung disease and scarring where they may have to perform a tracheotomy. Please pray for baby Ava and her family. This is been such a hard time for everybody.

When I held her it was such a sense of calm and peace. She let me hold her for her thirty minutes. The mom said she usually gets fussy with other people and was so excited she could get laundry and such done while I was holding her! It may sound odd but it was such a magical experience her. We had this unspoken connection. She seemingly craved human touch which isn’t surprising.
