I had a cervical smear at the end of April as part of wider tests due to some issues with my cycle. I’ve not had the results back and they’d normally be back within a fortnight from past experience. The doctor said to wait until the end of June and phone if I’ve not heard anything as they could still be working on the sample. It’s never taken this long for results in the past. Should I be worried? Has anyone else here had to wait over a month for results and was it because something was wrong?

I’m really worried as I have a strong family history of breast, cervical and ovarian cancer in women the same age as me (early 30s). I was offered genetic testing but I was only just 18 at the time and turned it down as I’d rather not know. I regret that now as I have no living family members left with the condition so that’s no longer an option. I was the only girl in the family old enough for the genetic/hereditary testing at the time.
