Strategies that are working for me..
Hey everyone!
I’m a bit of a fitness fanatic but I’m on the struggle bus in this first trimester dealing with fatigue, nausea (occasional vomiting) and my two little kiddos! So here are some strategies that are working for me.. I share in hopes that they benefit someone else too!
1) Short but frequent workouts.
I find that I like routine and it’s easy to stop working out altogether if I keep missing days due to whatever. So I do plan on doing strength training of some sort 5 days/week - splitting up muscle groups so as to not overdue any one area.
The other reason I am doing this is that when I know I have a long challenging workout ahead and I’m not feeling well it’s really hard to get psyched up for it. Knowing it will only last 20-30 minutes in total is a huge help.
2) Focus on the outcome.
For my walks with my kids it’s not so much that I’m motivated to walk by I am usually motivated to feel more energized. Usually I feel a bit more awake after getting out so I focus on what I hope the outcome/benefit will be actual exercise itself.
3) MODIFY.
This morning I threw up and was feeling super nauseas. I told myself that I could reduce each exercise to only 2 sets/exercise. It’s not as much as I’d normally do but it was comforting to know I could get through the workout quickly, in the end instead of putting it off because I was dreading it I just got it done.
What works for you??
