I sit just me, or are southern accents kind of annoying?

They may be annoying but I’ll tell you what’s more annoying having people pretty much everywhere you go outta your state try to mock your accent. Like yes I get it I have an accent and no you’re not the first person who’s tried to mock it with 10 times more emphasis than there really is.. 😐

I’m southern, and have a bit of an accent. It definitely comes out more if I spend a fair amount of time in my home town, but there is a level of “twang” that definitely bothers me a bit when I hear it from other people. I get a little self conscious at times and wonder if I sound like that 😳

I’m southern and I feel like my accent just brings along connotations of being stupid or ignorant. Also everyone thinks that if you’re southern you’re racist, and that’s not really my experience. I think there are just gonna be racist people everywhere. Most people here aren’t though.
