Just found out..
Thursday, June 7 I got a transvaginal US because my periods had basically become little to nonexistent since I got off BC in January. This past Thursday, I got the results of the US and found out I have PCOS. Once I started reading about it, I noticed I had some symptoms, not all. I had gained 18lbs since my wedding in March, my hair was thinning, I was more and more depressed and I didn’t understand why cuz I have a great life! Now I know... my husband and I have been TTC since our wedding and nothing... now that I have this diagnosis, I understand why..
I spoke with my Dr today and she told me I had to lose between 7-14 lbs (I weigh 140) and I needed to live a diabetic lifestyle when it came to my eating habits and exercise. She told me to continue taking the prenatal I had already been taking and add 5000 IU Vitamin D, 600 mg Calcium twice a day and Biotin. She also put me on Metformin. She’s starting me out on 500 mg (1 tablet twice a day).
I’m hopeful, but also don’t understand why this happened.. seems so unfair.. I’ve wanted kids for as long as I can remember and once my husband and I got married, it was BD time! It just sucks cuz it always seems that the ones who want motherhood the most have to go through the greatest obstacles..
I will continue to stay positive and follow all my Drs instructions. My husband has also decided to live the diabetic style with me and I am grateful for him! He’s been so great throughout this whole process.
Anyways, just thought I’d share and hopefully you guys can be an added support to my journey.
Question... I read somewhere that women with PCOS shouldn’t take OPK’s cuz it doesn’t “work” for them. I figured it wasn’t true, but what are yalls personal experiences?
Thank y’all for reading. I’ll keep updated on my journey for anyone who wants to know! 🤞🏼😊
