Dreams or nightmares ?

So I’ve been seeing my ex in my dreams we’ve been broken up since 2015 why now why am i seeing him in them can anyone help ?

I used to dream about my ex, obviously it has been years since we've been together and I am over him romantically and despise him with a passion and my dreams were never of that nature either, plus I have been happily married for 8 years to my wonderful husband, well any who I attributed it to there being things in that relationship that were unresolved, even years after my mom passed away I would dream about her and there were things we never resolved in our relationship, like things I was still mad at her for or resented her for...that's all I can think of....
