How long will you wait after birth for people to see the baby?

I’ve been thinking about this for a while now, especially since our baby is due end October/begin November and it’ll probably be the height of flu season.

I’m trying to decide how long the baby should stay just with my husband and myself after birth. My husband intends on taking time off from work however long it takes for my body to heal sufficiently to look after the baby on my own. I’m hoping a week or two.

I also know that many doctors advise to keep newborns away from public places etc. for a certain time after birth to lint exposure to flu, infections etc.

So my question to you is if you have thought about this as well and if so have you come to a decision?
