Request Dr’s note to leave on maternity??

Hey ladies I’m a FTM I’m 33 weeks pregnant and my HR suggests for me to ask my DR to take me out of work already... I have been having really bad back pain and swelling I sit on my but 8 hrs a day and it’s exhausting... next week I have an apt with my dr and how can I ask her to take me out of work and start my disability and also how does disability work?? 😩 I’m so confused pls help

If you go out of work this early just be aware it might affect your leave time. If your only relying on FMLA youll eat up so much of your maternity leave and you will only have a short time home with your baby.

Just ask your doctor. Worst they can say is no. On my last pregnancy my doctor let me stop working at 34 weeks. In California, disability before they baby doesn’t take away from the disability or FMLA time after the baby.

California law you can walk out at 36 weeks no questions asked and go on disability. Anything before then you have to have an actual medical reason. Like they’re putting you in bed rest, bleeding, pre eclampsia. Your dr won’t do it just for back pain and swelling. It’s a legal thing. I got all this from my dr. Ive been wanting to leave since I was 18 weeks. Standing at a register 4-8 per shift 20-35 hrs per week. Had to get my shifts and hours reduced and approval to wear tennis shoes to cope until I could leave. Im 33 weeks now and just got my excusal note for HR for my last day in 3 weeks. I don’t know if this is true or not but I have heard that if your HR wants to they can put you out on disability as early as they want to themselves. You’re dr however can not.

Dr is not going to put you on disability just because of back pain and swelling.. You have to have something medically wrong with you for your doctor to put you on leave early. I just asked my doctor this last week because I have been vomiting non stop since I found out I was pregnant. It sucks but that's how it works I guess

My doctor put me on a low carb/sugar diet last month and all the swelling in my hands and feet went away. 
I also went down to working 3 days a week and it was the best choice for me.
