light period question

so ladies.. gross topic I know.. but when In doubt always ask I guess..my periods have always been regular but my last one was spotting on and off for 3 days.. not enough to even fill a liner.. I got my period this time 4 days late with heavy cramps (never been late before) and my period is doing the light start stopping thing again.. it looked heavy the other day on one tampon but it was mostly brown blood, a little bit pinky red and mixed with lots of CM. this is all I've gotten for the past few hours and it's stopped again.. I never get a period this light in color with brown(old blood) .. this is day 3 and I generally get heavy periods for day 2 to 3.. my question is.. does anyone else have periods that start and stop lighter in colour than usual? -ended up only lasting 2.5 days and only heavy for one tampon.. was overly light the rest of the time
