Did you open gifts at your baby shower or take them home?

My mom doesn’t think we should open gifts at my shower that I should take them home unopened but I’m not really sure? Would you like to see your gift being opened?

I think it depends where your shower is. 
If it’s in a hall or something then I’d take them home, as I wouldn’t want all my newborn’s baby bits opened somewhere all dirty. 
If it was someone’s house (yours, the grandparents ect..) then I’d open them with other people.

Personally, I hate watching people open gifts lol most of the gifts they registered for so they know it coming lol I rather talk, eat, drink. Plus no one every gets overly excited at the gifts lol kind of the same “oh this is perfect. Thank you!” That’s just me though! I know the older generation loves the see people open gifts but it’s just a waste of time to me

I hate opening gifts in front of people and I hate watching others open gifts but we will be opening at the shower to be polite. Some people get offended if you don’t. They want to see your reaction. My grandma and my mom have very strong opinions about this so I said I will. I’m just going to tell everyone please not to feel obligated to stand around and watch. Go drink, eat, chat.. I prefer it!

I’m not a fan of opening them but all the people at my baby shower kept asking so i did it for them! They were very excited!

I just had my baby shower yesterday and it’s so awkward opening gifts in front of people. I loveee baby stuff but most of the stuff I registered for so how are you suppose to react?? Haha The baby clothes, toys and stuffed animals are always cute and can be aw’d at. So I’m torn... I like to see ppl open gifts but not the other way around lol

Gift opening is my fav part of the shower. I get annoyed when people dont open gifts at parties lol

For my first I definitely opened them, I never heard of not opening gifts at parties ? 
Honestly if I was a guest I really wouldn't mind either way, just do what
 you want. But if you don't open them make sure to send out thank you cards

My sister made it more interesting at my shower by playing bingo or something - have guests fill out bingo sheets for what they guess you'll be opening (obviously their own is a freebie), then play bingo while you're opening. Keeps them engaged beyond just oohing at the cuteness lol
