So is it true? The birth control pill can cause an abortion?

Lately I've been reading multiple articles online about the pill. I'm worried that what I've read is true because I'm against abortion.

The pill works by inhibiting ovulation. If there is no egg released, there is no fertilization. No fertilization, no potential baby. No potential baby, no abortion.

If an egg is released and fertilized, it will have a harder time implanting, since the pill also works by thinning the lining of the uterus. If the fertilized egg doesn't attach to the thinner lining, it will pass on its own. If you are unknowinglu already pregnant and are still taking the pill, it won't affect an implanted embryo.

If it concerns you, talk to your doctor, or use an alternative form of birth control like condoms or FAM.

Yes, the pill can be considered an abortifacient. This is why I stopped taking it after 5 years, actually. The pill's main purpose is to prevent ovulation. However, sometines ovulation still occurs.  It's back up method is to thin the lining of the uterus in order to make it a less favorable environment for the implantation of a fertilized egg. I thought it was a bunch of hooey when I first heard that, and did a lot of research. Based on what I found, I decided to stop taking them because I believe life begins at conception, therefore I consider knowingly removing a fertilized egg to be a form of abortion, IMO.

The pill stops you from ovulating. If you ovulated and it got fertilized then you will be pregnant. It doesn't affect anything else.

The morning after pill is different- that stops a FERTALIZED embryo from implanting. Many people say it is not an abortion pill. As I believe life begins at conception, IMO it does "force" a miscarriage which to me is aborting.

No they are two different things. Just as plan b and the abortion pill are different.

I more so think that BC is an abortion preventer. On mine if you ovulate it is possible to get pregnant. My packaging says you can continue taking it through pregnancy but that there is no reason to and it is not recommended.

I don't believe in birth control anymore, my feelings have changed a lot throughout my years, God made it to be able to conceive through intercourse, man made a pill to prevent it. HOWEVER, people will still have sex, and if they can't raise a child, then don't have sex!

Exactly what the birth control does varies between dosages, types, and administration. The morning after pill prevents implantation, so it can prevent a zygote from becoming a fetus. Other hormone based birth controls either prevent ovulation (no conception possible) or prevent implantation.

Only when implantation occurs does the body begin producing pregnancy hormones. So, if your body has noticed you're pregnant (implantation), then hormonal birth control will not change that.

If you think pregnancy or life begins at conception, then those options which prevent implantation could be considered abortifacients, but those that prevent ovulation would not be.
