How long did you wait until after you gave birth to have your first alcoholic drink?

I’m planning on breastfeeding and I was just curious how long everyone waited until after they gave birth to have their first alcoholic beverage? I’m not a big drinker but this heat just makes me want to have some really nice sangria or something.

Pumping and dumping is unnecessary. As your blood alcohol disappears, it Aksum leaves your breast milk. It doesn't "store" until you dump it. There are a few excellent articles by medical professionals and lactation specialists you can find :) you can also ask your doctor!

my son was born dec 27th and we got home from the hospital on new years eve so I had a glass of champagne that night.

You can have a glass of wine or a beer . I have associates who breastfeed and they have drinks when they go out but they doing get sloppy drunk and wait a few hours or up to 24 hrs before latching baby again . I would definitely wait until your milk is at least producing enough to feed baby when pumping . Talk to a lactation nurse at the hospital

A few days after getting home. Drinking while breastfeeding is a comfort level thing, I would recommend talking to a midwife or lactation consultant to get more info too. I never pumped and dumped, but my friend did if she even had a sip. Totally personal.

3wks with my youngest I was breastfeeding so only had couple drinks as one small glass of wine takes about 2hrs to leave your body. No need to pump and dump as alcohol leaves your blood stream and breast milk after the 2hrs mark.
