Breastfeeding backlash

I know this is a big thing going around social media, and it might have been posted already, so if it has spare me your comments. Yesterday i went to lunch with my mom, my best friend and my friends mom. Her mom has a son who is currently breastfeeding, he’s a little over a year but she believes that when he’s done breastfeeding, he’ll stop on his own. Yesterday at lunch, my friends mom was holding her baby and he started trying to latch on through her shirt. She did NOT feed him though because we were getting ready to leave, she was just gonna turn on the air in her car and feed him in there so it would be more comfortable for her cause it was kind of hot in the restaurant . A woman came up to her and told her that she was disgusting for letting that child eat from her breasts when he’s “so old already” and that she needs to tell him no when he tries to latch on in public. We left shortly after that, because she started getting kind of emotional. Have any of you actually gotten backlash for breastfeeding?? Or seen this happen to someone?
