TTC... Ideal time to test?

5 days late of when my period should have started.... which has happened before. Feeling somewhat bloated yet still no period. How long is the ideal time to test & see if I am pregnant? Is it too soon to test? This would be baby #1 if I were to be pregnant. Thoughts?
