I think if you already have 3 girls and they are somewhat close in age, then you shouldn't expect gifts. But sure, invite friends over for yummy food and games. 
I think if it's your first boy OR first girl, then yes! You should have a baby shower!

I say no...one example that I think is okay, though:  My brother-in-law and sister-in-law found out they were expecting triplets...their only other child was 14 at the time. I do think it was okay for them to have a shower!

I'm kind of old school, baby showers are for your first only. If you want to throw a welcome party, or just get some friends together to celebrate baby 2+ great! Enjoy it! but gifts and the shower planned and executed by someone else idea are for your first IMHO. We're expecting baby 2 and I certainly don't expect anyone else to plan me a 'shower' especially given we'll be moving out of state and away from most of our family and friends just before my third trimester begins. I may have some friends over for a pre-baby BBQ, celebrate the second and have some good food, but gifts and games aren't on the agenda. 😊
