Pap smears.

I was watching a show (I forgot the title) and they were trying to explain how important getting a pap done once a year is. They went on to say most women don't and some even completely refuse! They went as far as inviting women to a clinic to have one done and 90% of them refused and said they'd never get one done. One of the women that agreed was much older and confessed that she had never had one done. Maybe its just me, but that completely boggles my mind because a pap could very easily save their life and detect cancer cells before they become threatening. Maybe it hits home because my maternal side if my family has a history of reproductive cancer. What are your thoughts?
