How do I know if the baby is engaged?

32 weeks, had a scan today- the baby’s head is very close to my cervix, I asked the sonographer if she could tell me if the baby was closed to getting engaged but she said they can’t judge that. How will I know?

By having your cervix checked.

When ur midwife or doctor palpates ur uterus they can tell. But at 32 weeks it's unlikely and ur baby can still quite freely spin around and change position completely. It doesn't really matter if the baby's head is engaged at all - it's a bit of a myth that people believe if it's engaged it will come early - from my clinical experience 1st time mum baby's tend to engage about 36 weeks ish and if it's third or fourth sometimes doesn't happen till you start labouring. A first time mum could have a fully engaged head for weeks but not labour any sooner than a mother on her second or third baby and the head not fixed in the pelvis. It tends to be more uncomfortable once the baby moves down. Good luck with the rest of ur pregnancy and enjoy it as much as u can xx

for me is was lightening crotch. it stings my cervix.
