Am I being irrational about my in-laws?

Question

We live on Long Island, NY and my in-laws live in Massachusetts. The only real way to get to each other is to take a ferry that runs all day. I have a 14 month old son and I’m currently 7 months pregnant with our second. My in-laws insist that we see them and my brother in law for a weekend every month (sometimes I can hold them off until 2 months). Every time they come it costs me so much money and stress. I have a fairly small/moderate sized house 4 bed 2 bath. I no longer have 2 extra bedrooms for them since we have set up the second nursery. They are sooo cheap they refuse to stay at a hotel .5 mile away and they refuse to take their car on the ferry bc they want to save the $30. Which means we have to cram the 3 of them in our car with us and the baby and chauffeur them around all so they can save $30. Maybe it’s me being 7 months preg but I am so fed up. My MIL makes the most annoying comments while she’s here, tells me I should do this or shouldn’t do that with my son. I’m freaking out about it cause they’re coming this weekend and expect us to meet them at the ferry and drive an extra hour to pick them up again. I cant deal with it anymore!! Am I being irrational? How often do you all see your in-laws if they don’t live close? It’s driving me crazy!!! 
PS- they have PLENTY of money they just refuse to spend it. For Christmas and my sons bday they got him 1 gift that was maybe $10

Wow they sound cheap. Have you spoken to your husband? This is an especially stressful time for you, you shouldn’t have to put up with that.

you're right to be upset they are asking to much especially if they can afford other accommodations. the least they could do is bring their own car geez

Trying talking to your husband about it. Maybe he can talk to his mom and let them know that they can’t walk all over you guys like that. If you don’t say anything then everyone is going to think it’s ok for them to keep doing what they are doing. I would put my foot down and say this is my house and I’m sorry but there is barely any room for all you guys to stay here and we can’t keep driving you guys around and picking you guys up because it’s taking a toll on you especially while pregnant. Tell your husband you don’t need that kind of stress and with them being in your house and going everywhere you guys go it’s stressing you out. And let the mom know you have another baby on the way you guys can’t keep going to see them one weekend out of every month it’s bad to even take a newborn out that much. If they want to visit they can but they need to be in a hotel with their own car. And if they are such cheapskates then they shouldn’t be visiting if they don’t want to spend any money.

Yea maybe have your husband explain your not feeling well and feel overwhelmed with company and that they are more then welcome to come if they stay at a hotel and bring their car. He def needs to be the one to say something. Hell even make up that you’re super nauseous this pregnancy and want to puke in privacy. 
My in laws live 3 1/2 hour drive away and we maybe see them once every 2 months usually more like 3

Time to say no. 
If you can’t get your husband on board to say no, then you can just say no for yourself. You and the baby do not have to go in the car to the ferry - stay home and nap! Being pregnant is a great excuse for not doing most anything. 
They can’t make you entertain them. Just say, sorry, not feeling well, bye!
