I have to assume that almost everyone on here that chose madela has never owned a spectra. The spectra is wonderful in so many ways and I exclusively pumped and used the spectra s2, madela pns and the freemie.

I have used both. I greatly prefer my Spectra. I think it's easier to clean, it's quieter, and the speed of suction and strength of suction are independently adjustable. Its also more lightweight and easier to carry imo.

I would pick the s2 over the s1 if I had the choice because of the closed system

I have the Spectra S2 (same as S1, just not rechargeable) and I love it. The light on it and the handle are very convenient for me.

My insurance provided the Amēda Purely Yours pump. It’s a pretty good pump but I found I was constantly messing around with the settings to get the best flow.
I just got the Medela Pump in Style yesterday and already I prefer it over the Amēda. I read reviews that it’s loud but neither me nor my 13 day old baby mind the sound. It has a let down button that does exactly what I was trying to mimic on the Amēda so that right there is basically everything to me; I spend much less time messing around with the settings. 
It also comes in a carrying tote that will be perfect for when I go back to work. 
The manual does mention to wash the tubing if milk happens to get in but I used it all day yesterday and milk didn’t go in the tubing so I’m not sure how that works. Maybe it depends on the angle that you hold your flange/bottle. I have a pumping top that holds everything in place (a MUST when pumping!!! Absolutely worth every penny) so everything is upright the entire time—maybe that’s why milk hasn’t entered the tubing. 
I’ve never used the Spectra so I can’t say anything about that pump. But honestly I am so happy with the Medela. The pump and the Medela pumping top has changed my pumping game.

I honestly think the spectras are very comparable to the medelas. Best difference is the spectras are all closed systems. Meaning that milk never goes into a tube. Which is better for clean up and sanitary reasons.
