So if you get a blood test how does the doctor determine if you have hsv1 or hsv2?

I thought hsv1 was oral and hsv2 was genital?

the doctor doesn't determine it,type 1 and type 2 is tested for.

They order both and the labs determine and report the ratios. The results are given separately HSV I + HSV II and say neg or positive and the value.
