Two days ago, I had another cervical exam and she said I was 1cm dilated (FINALLY) but my cervix was still really thick. The exam was more uncomfortable than usual- but it’s usually a bit uncomfortable anyway since my cervix is very posterior. When I got home, I noticed blood- almost like a period. I know light bleeding is fairly regular after a cervical exam, and I’m assuming it hadn’t happened in the last two exams because my cervix was still closed? Anyway, over the two days, the blood lessened but there was still a tiny bit in my panties, yet not enough to warrant wearing a pad. Today... at 39w4d I have finally had what I believe to be the bloody show! It’s so nice to see some kind of progress.

Now I wonder though..... my due date is July 1st... this Sunday. At my last appointment, my doctor told me to make an appointment for the day after my DD to check progress and then we could talk about “possibly being induced on Wednesday or Thursday” (4th & 5th of July). Now that I’ve had the bloody show, should I expect to be more dilated? Might my doctor not want to schedule the induction if I am more dilated?
