I have the medela Pump in Style and the spectra 1. The medela gets the job done but it is painful (for me at least) and it is an open system which means milk can backflow and mine did several times. The spectra S1 I chose because it has a rechargeable battery which I like. Once fully charged I can go days without charging it again and I pump 4-5 times daily 20-25 minutes. It is very gentle on my nipples and it has multiple settings so you can get the one that is just right for you. It has a timer on it already so I don’t have to check my watch or start a timer on my phone. It has a built in light so that I can easily pump at night without turning lights on. It is also a closed system so no milk in the tubing or pump. It is also significantly quieter that the medela PIS as well. Spectra is what I wanted from the beginning but my insurance didn’t cover it. 
I’ve also read that some people say that the medela battery pack will work on the S2 for use on the go but I don’t have the S2 so I’m not too sure on that. I’ve been exclusively pumping for about 6.5 months. My daughter is almost 9 months.

The only medela I have had is a manual, so I'm not much help there. I prefer the S2 over the S1. I had to S1s that had to be returned because they both stopped charging/turning on in less than a week. I love my S2, though!

Either spectra. I had a Madela in style advances with my first and have a Spectra with this baby and like the spectra better. Its quieter, lighter, and you can adjust suction and speed separately where with the In Style Advances as you turn up one it turns up the other.

I had the spectra s2 but this time I’m going to get the freemie cups because I just wanted to pump while being able to move around and with clothes on

I don't have any experience with the Spectra, but I have only heard great things about it. I have the Medela Sonata and LOVE it.
