"Keep a couple pink toes in my sandals" 💅🏾
I stopped getting acrylic nails back in 2012 (not shading them, do whatever YOU LIKE & makes YOU FEEL beautiful). I hated how brittle & weak my real nails were whenever I got the acrylic soaked off for a new set & wanted to give my real nails a chance. So I started getting manicures & gel polish. It took a few months for my damaged nails to grow off & the polish to look smooth but once they did, I LOVED it. They were long lasting and my real nails grew BEAUTIFULLY. Then I started noticing my nails turning slightly yellow after a few years. I think the gel polish over time caused it. So I started doing my own nails with just regular polish (OPI of course) base coat, polish, & top coat. It took me some time learning how to buff them, push my cuticle back, polish them & clean them up, but all those years at the nail salon I better had learned something. I love taking care of my own nails & feet. I do my pedis too, soak them in a foot bucket, add a few drops of eucalyptus or lavendar, and epsom salt. I really just enjoy pampering myself & taking care of myself at home. It saves money & time & relaxes me. This bougie, stuck up, fake ass society we live in tends to look down on women who don't go to the nail salon to get their nails done. But I do my nails and toes nearly twice a week. & I'm a GNA, so taking the time to learn the art means I can give my residents professional looking mani's & pedi's when I have the time. Bottom line AGAIN IS, do whatever makes YOU feel beautiful, because beauty is expressed in so many ways. Receiving service, servicing yourself, or servicing others ARE ALL BEAUTIFUL.
