Suggestions for 12 to 18 month toys?

People keep asking me what to get my son for his 1st birthday in a few weeks and I'm not sure what kids that age like. We usually try to buy for about age 6 months in the future so we get the most out of toys or items.
What are the best toys or items for 12 month to 18 month olds?

Books, balls, toy cars and trucks, etc. my 13.5 month old boy loves anything that rolls (balls and toy cars etc). Toys that make noise- light up and sing or talk.

Books, toddler board puzzles, those shape sorting buckets, cars, mega blocks, those little toddler couches that pulls out into a bed, a lego table with chairs (usually they have a top to go over the LEGO part so it can be used as a regular table to color on or do activities)

I suggest one of those toddler handyman work tables or a toddler kitchen. The difference between 11 months and 13 months is crazy. Like she turned into a little kid in two months. My baby is gone! We got her a ball pit and tunnel off of Amazon and one for those ride on things.

This tunnel thing is a lot bigger than it looks. We don't use the uncovered part inside. We take it outside to keep her toys in while she plays. The tunnel is in her nursery and the covered part is in the living room filled will balls. Little people toys are great too. She has a farm thing and a princess castle. The key is noise. If it doesn't make noise, they won't play for too long. At least with my daughter 😂
