Diagnosed with PCOS

Since I started having a period I have always been regular although there were times my period would usually be heavy but I assumed that I was perfectly fine. Then when I got into my fourth year in college I started gaining weight maybe from the stress but my period was still regular and thought I was fine. When I graduated and started reviweing for our licensure exams, my boyfriend and I finally had sex (we’re both virgins). And my period started to be erratic which actually freaked the both of us since we were using calendar and withdrawl method, so after a pregnancy scare we stopped doing it. Still, my period never went back to the way it was so I finally had the courage to see a doctor after a year, I’m 23 years old btw. Now my doctor requested for an ultrasound and told me I have bilateral PCOS thats why I have an irregular period and have been gaining weight.

So currently I’m being treated for my hormonal imbalance since I’m not ready to become pregnant yet. My bf and I do have plans for a baby, just not at the moment but I’m afraid that I might have trouble getting pregnant if I opt to do it later. Anybody in the same situation as me? I really love kids and I’d want to conceive the normal way without the meds and all. Is that possible?
