My boyfriend and I are both 18 and we just found out we’re pregnant. We’re both in college and have decent jobs and our own apartment. Altogether, we make about $30,000 a year, but we also only work part time. Neither of us plan on dropping out of college, and we both have about three years left to go. He will be getting a raise in a year or two, which will bring our yearly income to $40,000 a year.

If possible, we really want to keep the baby. We’ve wanted our own family since we were fourteen, but clearly we knew we couldn’t have it then. The pregnancy was a complete shock since I was on birth control, but we’re both very excited. But we don’t want the baby to suffer due to a lack of money.

Is it possible to work more hours while in college? Can we manage on $30,000 a year? Or would it be better for everybody if we didn’t keep the baby? I’m conflicted and need advice from somebody with more experience than me!
