Seizures+ pregnancy= ???🤔🤔

Hi! I'm 15, and have a seizure disorder. I don't know anyone else with seizures. I was wondering if seizures can hurt babies, any lasting effects, etc. Comment if you know anything😁😀

Doctors typically work with their patients to make sure they take medication that will prevent the seizures and yet be safe for the baby. 
I know that some seizures can cause harm to the baby but it usually depends on the type of seizures/epilepsy that that person is having. Can I ask what type of seizures you have?

I’m 21 and have had seizures since I was 13/14. I’m currently pregnant 32 weeks. I am monitored a lot. I see my ob for high risk, level 2 ultrasound people, neurologist so much😩. My medication had to be changed because one didn’t have enough research on the affects of pregnancy. I haven’t had a seizure while pregnant “fingers crossed”. I was told it could harm your baby. I was also told depending on how bad. I think the one thing that scared me a little was it cuts off oxygen to the baby, but I think positive in this situation. Drs know what to do. Many women have healthy babies while pregnant.

I had seizures when I was pregnant (non-epileptic) and it didn’t effect my baby at all. Doctors will usually work with you and teach you on how to cope with them during pregnancy. Of course, if you fall down always get checked just in case. But generally they don’t seem to harm pregnancies (from what I’ve seen). My friend has horrible epileptic seizures and had them while she was pregnant and has two healthy children now

It really depends. I’m epileptic have been since I was 16. Anyways I had my babygirl almost two years ago. The doctors recommended if my seizures were not grandmal to stop taking medication. They usually try to give you smaller doses (if possible) or they change you to meds that do not affect the baby.(there’s seizure medication that may cause deformities). I stopped taking meds and I was just monitored extra and had to have more tests done. My pregnancy went great. I did have seizures but they did not affect my daughter. Every time I felt one coming on I laid down and waited for them to pass.

I don't know a whole lot but my mom had epileptic seizures, both petitmal and Grandmal
She was told since the age of 16 to never have children as it would put great risk to her and the unborn baby
She had a total of 5 kids, myself being the second oldest
Ages are 24, 22, 18, 8, 7
We were almost all very healthy babies, the only baby with any trouble was the seven-year-old, Carl, he was born an Ultra preemie baby, but last I heard he was doing great
She passed away at the age of 36 from a seizure but it had nothing to do with carrying her pregnancies. I wish I could ask her more

I’ll give you my story which doesn’t apply to everyone just me . I had a stroke at birth which caused my epilepsy. Had my first one at 6 years old and been on carbamazepine since then and will never be able to get off this medication would harm a fetus and have been told it’ll never be safe for me to get pregnant

I had my first seizure at the age of 8 got diagnosed as being epileptic at the age of 10. I was put on the drug Tegertrol at the time. They later switched me to Lamictal at age 17. I’ve been on the generic form of it for a while now(Lamogritine). One of the side effects of this medication is cleft lip/cleft palate. When I was 20/21 is when my doctor put me on 1mg of folic acid every day since I am in my child bearing years which helps reduce the risk of the side effects listed above considerably. I got pregnant at the age of 27 had a healthy baby girl at the age of 28 with no problems. Yes I was monitored like a hawk with the doctors( primary, neurologist, obgyn). Went to see the neurologist every 3 months whom gradually increased my medication during my pregnancy. Had ultrasound sounds once a month and fetal stress tests twice a week. I was sent down to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia for a fetal heart test. As a recommendation to you if you are on Tegertol, Topamax, Phenobarbital talk to your neurologist to have you switched. They are the worst drugs to be on while pregnant. Basically what I’m saying to you is as long as you are on the right medication with great doctors you should be ok. I’m including pictures of my daughter Olivia who is 4 now.
