Product feminization: Personal study, does anyone have anything to add?

Ce

Recently my SO and I have decided to test the differences between a common feminine razor, masculine razor, and a straight razor. As general info, we use the same razors, so we blow through blade refills quickly. We often find ourselves using old blade heads because the safty strip runs out so fast and we just don't like paying $15-25 for new ones often.

First, we tried the straight razor. We made the decision to order one because of the idea that common, in-store razors only add the extra 3-4 small blades to charge you more for the metal. We got it in and found while the single blade did cut hair easily, it also burned and irradiates the skin on both his face and my legs. After much trail and error, we decided against the straight razor...even if it did look badass on the bathroom shelf.

So currently we are trying a masculine razor off store shelves. Previously, we used feminine Venus razors, which blade refills cost about $15 for 3-4 blades depending on sales. So, following the rumor that "mens razors" cost less we went to a few stores, including Walmart and Target. The majority of mens razors had similar pricing to our Venus razors, handle and refills both. The only mens razor with a obvious price reduction was Sheik Hydro (if I'm spelling that right) at $10 (rounding up) for refills or handle and 1 refill starter pack.

The only thing we knew we wanted in a razor was a pivoting head, which turns out most mens razors have, it just appears this is not as much as a selling point with mens razors than womens.

Anyway, immediately you notice the handle is a lot heavier than any "female razor" I've ever used. It clearly has metal in/on it. If you dropped this on your foot, it would hurt.

The blades also don't seem to "jut out" as far as the Venus heads, so it is a wee bit harder to use in small nooks and crannies, but not a big deal.

The safety strip has lasted a week longer than the Venus' strip. Awesome! Though it did have a lot more of that lovely new razor-head slime. Not a issue for us.

Honestly, I'm only saving $5 but in general I like the new razor. How about you? Have you ever tried a "mens" razor? Or what is your favorite "mens" product and why?
