If it was an option, would you want your husband to be a SAHD?

**and I mean the male significant other in the relationship, even if not a husband, a boyfriend, etc..
I am asking to get the female perspective on dads who are the primary caregiver at home. How do you feel about it? Is it great? Would it make you jealous if it was him and not you? Would you be ok with the pressures of providing the only income? 
There are no wrong answers really. It’s about your personal perspective.

My best case scenario would be BOTH of us staying at home! 
If I could choose, we would both work part-time only (like max 25 hours/week), and have a lot more time at home to care for our kids.

My dad was a SAHD for a while. I loved it. We made so many amazing memories together that i still cherish.
Although I was lucky because neither of my parents ever had jobs where they were gone all the time. I never went to daycare I was either in school or with one of them. They didn’t make much money. In my opinion, I am more grateful for the time I got with them. I think thats more important than if we had a lot of money.

if i was making bank and we didnt need his income to live in comfort (not just survive), id be down for it. however at the moment he makes more than i do and is probably on track to keep doing that so its highly unlikely. we also live in an expensive area so i dont see it happening. but then again we arent exactly planning for kids right now either haha

If it were financially feasible for us, this would 100% be both of our preferred route. As it is now, we will have to hire a part-time nanny as I work from home and can’t be the full-time caregiver. But my husband is trying to interview for jobs that will allow him to work from home as well, so he can be as involved as possible. 
I’ve just never seen myself as a SAHM. I love my job, and truthfully, I don’t have endless patience. I know I could do it and do it well, but my husband would be a *magnificent* primary caregiver. He is patient and energetic, he’s really invested in finding new ways to engage little ones and help them learn. I just know he’d be way better at it than me, and I think our family would be happiest having him in that role.

I definitely want to be a SAHM but I’ll also have my own business from home. 
My partner would prefer to be the income earner but if for any reason he doesn’t have a job, he would be happy to be a SAHD until another job pops up for him. 
I have been looking forward to being a mum since I was a kid. I honestly cannot wait until I get to spend the day with my child (even knowing I’m going to be utterly exhausted and way in over my head. I’m so excited).

My husband is a SAHD and it is great seeing his relationship with our son and saving tons of money on childcare. That being said, it is SO hard on my emotions. I feel like I am missing out on so much, but I keep reminding myself that this is how working dads probably feel too. It's a tough balance.

We have actually talked about this I'm our relationship before. I have the potential to be the main bread winner and eventually make enough that we could live comfortably on just my pay. I can't be a SAHM, I tried it with my first and was miserable. I loved spending all that time with her but I missed feeling like I was contributing to society (noy saying that SAHM don't do that, just saying that is how I felt.) He would love to be a SAHD and I like the idea of one of us being home to watch our youngest and get the older kids off the bus at home instead of them going to a babysitter.

I would be a little jealous but I’d trust him completely to give the best care, especially since my SO has a college degree in early childhood education. Although after experiencing daycare I’d probably prefer that one of us worked full-time and the other part-time and our son still go to some daycare, it’s been so positive for all of us. I’m already the primary money-maker in the family so that wouldn’t change for me.

My Dad was a SAHD, but he had income from being in the Army. I loved it growing up because we always got to do random outdoor sports, and he never missed a function that we had. The bad part is, none of us grew up being close to our Mom. Were Dad was always there, and she was always working or sleeping to go to work, we never really got to build a bond.
