Blood test to determine gender?

Can you opt to get the blood test that will also tell you baby’s gender. I know it looks for other things too. Do you need a medical reason to get the test or can you just ask for it, if you’re willing to pay for it? Its just a question, don’t be rude please.

You can just ask for it. Everyone does it these days so I don’t think they’ll try and give you shit. But I think it’ll come out of your pocket.

I was able to do it,but since there wasn’t a medical reason I had to pay out of pocket for it.

You can ask for it and sometimes insurance will cover without history. Tricare covered mine even with me being under 35 and no family history. It was the panorama and would’ve been $900

Yes you can opt out its not a required test until you are over a certain age. You can also ask them to not tell you the gender if you don't want to know. We got it done with both our pregnancies and they always asked us first if we wanted to know. My insurance covered the test both times but if yours doesnt you can pay for it out of pocket. However depending on which test brand your doctors office offers/if they are running a special on the test or not it can cost you anywhere from 300 bucks to 3000 bucks. It can even be less or more than that but that's just a general estimate.

Your OB. I’m high risk, so I get the blood test each pregnancy, but there are women who get it just to find out gender.
