I have my first ultrasound next Tuesday, I will be 7 weeks + 2 days. Will the scan be external or will it have to be internal? I have no idea!

I just had my sonogram at 7w1d. They did both. External first, then asked me to change and empty my bladder to do the internal.

I accidentally peed an hour before my appointment, then chugged 4 glades of water, but it still didn’t work. Had to have an internal. Don’t pee within 2h of the appointment and drink 4 glasses of water and an external should be ok! Your US is quite early though, so the baby will be small, and therefore it may need to be internal.

I had an external one done at 8 weeks and it was clear. Just make sure you drink at least 3 large glasses of water an hour before and hold your pee. The more full your bladder is the easier it is to see baby on an abdominal ultrasound

it depends on how much they can see.  what happened for my is that the external one they couldn't see as much as they wanted so they resorted to the internal.
