Ive never had this issue before.. help

So I’ve been sexually active with my Husband for 8 years now. And the last two-three months of sex have just been really painful. It’s not necessarily the inside of my vagina, but the outer area/opening of my vagina. TMI, but it feels like I’m just not wet enough or something and it’s just painful. I’ve NEVER had this issue before of it hurting so bad. It lasts a couple weeks to go down and it burns for a while. It honestly makes me now want to do it because it hurts so bad. Has anyone had his problem? Any advice?
