Are cysts and follicles the same exact thing ?

I had an transvaginal ultrasound and they saw 20+ small follicles on my right ovary, it said that  it was a “finding suggestive of poly cystic ovarian syndrome “ this scared the crap out of me. But then I had another test which showed that I have no evidence of PCOS. Im so confused ! What does this mean exactly ?? I’m 22 and trying to to conceive . Will this affect it? How can the cysts be removed without surgery. ?

I’m 22 also and I’m an MRI technician student. Yesterday we imaged the pelvis and saw multiple cysts on my ovaries and my teacher told me that my dr will most likely put me on some sort of contraceptive to regulate my period and that they will help with fertility options when I’m ready. Just talk to your dr. :)

Same. I have cysts but no signs or symptoms of PCOS, clear blood tests, cysts picked up on ultra sounds. Apparently it’s normal for these cysts to form when ovulating however they can affect fertility/ovulation. My periods have gone haywire - I think as I’d been on the pill for 15 years, since I came off they no longer are regulated. You can go on the pill to try to stop more cysts forming as the pill stops you from ovulating. 
You won’t necessarily  know if it’s  affecting your fertility until you actively start trying for a baby - sex 3-4 times a week, taking your folic acid etc... The doc did say to me it looked like I just ovulated on my ultrasound so it doesn’t always mean there’s a problem. 
I had one of the bastards burst though and that bloody hurt! 😫
