Do you actually need a date for your relationship? Is this normal?? 🤔🤔

So my boyfriend and I have never asked each other out we just sort of became a couple and I proudly introduce him as my boyfriend and vice versa.
Then my friend asked me when my 'monthsary' is and I don't have one. We don't have that one specific date that we started dating.
Does this make my relationship less real? What do you think

Me and my BF don't have a specific date. We knew we became a couple sometime in March, so decided we'd celebrate it every year on March 1st. Been together 4 years and are moving in together next month...

well jeez in that case me and my man still areny going out. we met each other  about the 24th jan 2017... never really asked each other out as such.. but we class each other as a couple have done for over a yr now.. your friend is just being petty.

Me and my boyfriend made up a date that we got together. He just started calling me his girlfriend one day, he never “asked”. We had sex after we hung out a couple times in February. So we just say we started dating in March of 2017. It doesn’t make it anymore or less real.

Your relationship is NOT less real. What matters is that you both respect each other’s beliefs, ideals and opinions, like/love each other (depending on where you are in your relationship), are kind towards each other and others, understand any differences between each other, and are willing to fight for each other.
Your friend sounds very immature imo no offence. And if it really bugs you, and /you/ want a date because /you/ think it’s important, just roughly go back to which week you guys shifted in your friendship and pick a day or pick the date you first introduced each other as girlfriend-boyfriend. Only if you want to, but not because some immature person was trying to make you feel inferior about what you guys have.

She’s wrong. There are so many ways a relationship can go, and none of them are any less valid. I honestly really like just falling into one!

You certainly don't need a date to be official. My boyfriend and I don't have one really. We started dating a few months before we had a conversation about if we were in a relationship or not. But, we'd both been assuming that we were and had been acting like a couple for months prior to this conversation. So we just said we'd been together since December without any actual date. We ended up breakinvg up due to me moving away for 6 months so now we consider our anniversary the day we got back together but neither of us are really sure what day that actually is. 
We don't even celebrate an anniversary (we mention it but that's it as we don't see dating anniversaries as a big deal and will wait till our wedding anniversary to really celebrate), and we've been together for a few years now.  We're certainly in a strong and official and valid relationship. If you don't feel the need to have a specific date then you don't need one! Every relationship is unique to the two people in that relationship. If you are happy with how things are then that's great, it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. You don't need them to say you're in a relationship at all.

A monthversary isn't a thing and tbqh your friend doesn't make the rules of a relationship. My boyfriend never officially asked me out, we went on a couple of dates and just both 'assumed' we were a couple. There was no pressure and we are both so happy. Pay no attention to your friend, she sounds a bit childish.
