I had a discussion with a friend about parents being comfortable about sexuality with teens, and for them to learn to explore their sexuality in a healthy manner. 
Is it okay for my teenage daughter to know that I masturbate and that it’s okay to do so?

I wouldn’t personally say that I masturbate but I would make sure my children know that it is perfectly fine and normal to explore your body. I don’t need to know what my Mom does in the bedroom and I wouldn’t want to tell her what goes on in mine unless I’m concerned about something.

Okay my mom, sisters and I are all very open. We don’t have filters when it comes to sexual things. BUT, I do know wanna know when my mom flicks the bean.... I don’t think that’s necessary. I do believe in having an open line of communication with ur kids, so they’ll feel comfortable coming to u with questions & concerns, etc. And, I’d most definitely let them know that masturbation is completely natural, normal, and healthy. Hell, it might be an unpopular view, but I’m even open enough that I’d buy my teen daughter (if I had one) a vibrator if she really wanted one, or condoms if I knew she was sexually active. Same with my son when he’s a teen, I’d buy him condoms. However, I honestly don’t think it’s necessary for a parent to divulge the fact that they masturbate themselves. U can be plenty open with ur kids without telling them everything lol.

I wouldn’t straight out tell them, but in context, I would let them know it’s perfectly natural to self explore, and that I’ve done it as well. You know, just normalize it for them.

As a 20 year old who lives at home during the summer, I would say both yes and no. Let your daughter know it is perfectly okay to masturbate and let her know everything. I would however not tell her you do it, it may make her feel awkward knowing her mom does it too. My mom recently found my bag of toys, it was awkward but a good conversation on that side of life. We talked adult to adult but she never told me if she is still sexually active with my dad or if she masturbates. Frankly I never want to know that, some things should be left private. 😅😂
