Has anyone painted a used crib?

JUST had this delimma. We were gifted a light wood crib but babe's room is gray and white, but free is FREE! We are having a furniture painter paint it for us. I don't trust us to do it well. Don't worry about toxic paint either. As long as you don't paint it yourself and it's completely dry when it's brought inside, all paint is the same when dry. He's using spray paint to avoid paint strokes on ours.

I'm painting my sons old ikea wood crib gray with Annie Sloan chalk paint. It's super easy and I'm having fun doing it. The quart size is about $40 and it will cover the whole thing and I should have enough for the changing table.

I've read that the Annie Sloan chalk paint is safe to use and safe for baby after it cures for 6 weeks. There's a wax coating though that I believe us pregos are not supposed to apply ourselves...

Not sure if it's safe. Babies bite cribs and the paint you use can chip.

I'm wondering about this too. I was given a crib and I hate the light wood...but it was free so I wasn't going to turn it down. I was thinking about painting it gray or staining it darker.
