Dry skin around vagina

I have really dry skin around my vagina. Like to the sides and the bottom. And no I don’t mean my vulva it’s around my actual vagina. It feels dry and it looks dry and not very nice too and it causes pain for me during sex sometimes. What can I do for this? I don’t really know if using lotion is a good idea; I’m very prone to yeast infections
