3 years ago my ex was arrested in a sting operation setup by police in a neighboring county to catch child predators.

An officer posed as a child between the ages of 11-14(according to what little vague information I could find and also by reading the charges on the county’s public index) on facebook and he fell for it. He arranged to meet who he thought was this child for sex and was immediately arrested.

The two charges against him were attempted sexual conduct with a child between the ages of 11-14 and sexual solicitation of a child between the ages of 11-14 according to public records.

It was a huge scandal in our small town and people either shunned him or believed his bullshit story about thinking the girl was 18. His girlfriend even stayed with him and continues to live with him along with their daughter.

The ordeal brought up a lot of issues with him that were outside of the charges too. Girls who had been underage at the time of the incidents coming forward with stories about him for example, but they were past the statute of limitations so it did nothing legally to him. In my state the statute of limitations for sexual assault is 3 years and he apparently has been doing this for closer to 10.

It seemed like a done deal and he was facing 30 years in prison. Then in november the charges were dismissed and no one knows how it was done.

He isn’t registered as a sex offender and he is serving no time in jail or on probation. It is widely accepted that he was guilty and he has never denied trying to have sex with this girl, only that he thought her age was 18. But by all the records I found he was made aware the child was 14 or younger by the officer posing as the child. There were facebook messages with this as proof.

Absolutely no one knows how he got out of these charges. Everything just seemed to be shoved to the side for 3 years before finally being swept under the rug.

A few people think it has something to do with his membership as a Free Mason. I don’t know much about that besides he went to lodge meetings we were dating. I just think our justice system failed on this and it makes me wonder how many other predators have fallen through the cracks?

He goes to all of his daughters school functions despite outrage from the other parents who saw he ordeal on the news years ago and recognize him. The school can do nothing about it since he wasn’t registered. And stories still keep popping up about sexual assaults and molestation committed by him by girls coming forward but nothing is done either due to lack of evidence or the statute of limitations. And there were several experiences I had with him when we were together that were very borderline, which is why I left him. He was always adamant about my dressing and looking a certain way. Which looking back was him trying to make me look younger than I was and he could be extremely pushy and aggressive about sex. He also had a major porn addiction and would watch porn and masturbate upwards of 14 times a day(a fact he was weirdly proud of). He was extremely controlling, verbally abusive, and very very secretive when we were together.

If a predator like this can walk free how many more are out there doing the same thing?
