When to buy maternity clothing?

Hi all! I am 12 weeks pregnant and trying to get through the summer with what I currently have so I don’t have to buy for two seasons. But I don’t know if I can make it for two more months. When do you plan to start buying maternity? Do you get pants earlier and dresses/tops later? I’m going to a wedding in August so I’m debating whether to buy a looser regular dress or a maternity one (which may be gigantic).

Everyone is different! It really depends on your current wardrobe - take a good hard look and see which pieces can “work” as maternity - any stretchy dresses? Skirts that you can wear high on your waist? “Fat pants” that you keep at the back of your closet? Use a hair tie to extend the button hold on your shorts that zip (google it). 
This is my second pregnancy so I’ve got most of what I’ll need but I’d say if you have to buy maternity clothes, look for pieces that you can wear after baby is born (all tops should be nursing-accessible if you plan to nurse). ASOS is my favorite online place to shop.
Finally, I highly recommend buying a “bump kit” - usually three or four black and white basics that come together in a package (usually a tank, dress, leggings and shirt or skirt). I found mine (from Seraphine) invaluable across seasons.

I'm 12 weeks 4 days and been substituting maternity pants in my wardrobe for a while. it's a lot of bloat right now but man it feels so much better than sausage stuffing myself into pants

I’ve already ordered stuff online, especially pants for work and leggings. Dresses and tops i can manage by now. I think by August i for sure will need to go all maternity because i like to be comfortable and i was a size 0 or 2 before getting pregnant so definitely everything is so small. I’m almost 13 weeks and already i feel discomfort wearing my regular pants

I’ve already bought maternity jeans and I’m 13+5. I got 3 pairs from the thrift store for $6 a pair, but I’m still wearing most of my regular shorts because they are low rise enough to stay under my belly. Some T-shirt’s are staring to get uncomfortable on me tho.

I’ve had to wear maternity pants since 6 weeks due to bloat. Most of my pre pregnancy clothes don’t fit anymore and I’m 14 weeks. I’ve been able to get a lot of my clothes for a good price at Burlington Coat Factory.

I got my first maternity bra today and I feel so much better! It is super comfy and doesn’t hurt me at all. For clothes I didn’t like anything :( didn’t like the colors, style and fit weird so I didn’t buy any. The very nice employee at motherhood said it is very normal to first time mom like me to feel weird about the size and shape in the beginning.

If you still kind of fit into your regular pants, but it’s uncomfortable to button them I recommend a belly band (called different things at different stores). I got 2 from target but they basically just go around your waistband help keep your pants closed. That’s what I’ve been wearing lately when I feel bloated.

im 13 weeks and I think I'll be good for the summer dresses and one pair of short should fit untill winter
but I just picked up a bunch of maternity clothes from my friend. pretty much all winter clothes which is a good sent cuz that's what I'll need

Depends on how much you are showing already. I heard of a nifty trick of using a rubber band to ease the gap. I'm 11.5 weeks along and don't show enough to get maternity clothes yet even though I'm really tempted.
