Have you ever been in an abusive relationship?

Abuse can be emotional, physical, and/or sexual. I just read an article that says 40% of women have been with an abusive partner. I am a part of this statistic. I wonder who else is.

I been in one and I got out of it. But how can u try not to get yourself back in the same mess if u with someone but they have the same ways of the other person not everything the same but some of the ways are alike.

I was in a verbal, emotional and highly physical violent relationship for 9 and a half years. Nearly killed me numerous times. I finally escaped October 2011 and its the best thing to ever happen.  Now myself and my children can be happy 😊

Severely emotional and physical for as almost 2 years,  he even poured gas on me and tried trio catch me on fire. He was also sleeping with my cousin, who I was very close with she was like a sister to me, while I was at work. When I would try to leave he would say he was gonna kill himself and I would stay because no matter what people think I loved him alot. I finally came to my senses and dropped him and my cousin. I am now with my soulmate and have been going on 10 years.

My ex held a knife to my neck when I tried to break up with him!!!! And I stayed because I was so scared he was gonna kill me in my sleep or hurt my dog while I was at work. Yeah he was unemployed never paid for anything like anything from rent to a freaking taxi ride!!! Had me pay for vacations his sons bday gifts or doctors appt.he also was very emotionally abusive would tell me how bad I was in bed and say how he never wants to have kids with me because I have eczema!!! I got out with the help of my friends and family!!! My mom had him arrested (thanks mom) and now I'm in a healthy relationship I'm actually engaged to my dream man and I never knew what happiness felt like until the day that asshole left my life. I had to learn how to love myself and I've never looked back!!! Funny thing that a hole sent me an email asking me to help him get followers on Instagram like wtf

I have been in and out of abusive relationships since I was 13. First one forced me to do things I didn't know about then shot me up when I'd fight back. Then ones that were more abusive. And one had ptsd really bad and was a severe alcoholic and used to beat me every day. And my ex husband. He never laid a hand on me but was mentally abusive. I have many scars and have head alot of head trauma. I keep my hair a certain way from the big indenting in my skull. No longer in an abusive relationship. Have a great guy now. But out of all of it the mental abuse was worse than the physical. If anyone is ever in an abusive relationship they need to get out asap

I was in an emotionally/mentally abusive relationship for 5.5years. I finally got out of it last year in June. I am currently in a relationship with man who treats me like a queen. He's my motivator, he's my rock and my supporter and yet I still have a hard time opening up and fully trusting again after what my ex did. Don't let them walk all over you ladies, or it will just continue. Get out and save yourself the heartache

Not physically but he was extremely controlling and emotionally abusive. I finally just tore the blinders off and left him. Took me a few years of just being single to get used to my own self and become confident again.
