I’m six weeks postpartum c-section. I have a rare blood condition that results in almost no platelets, so I have been bleeding heavily almost the entire time. I’ve had a couple of postpartum ultrasounds and there’s a fair amount of blood being retained as well as new blood from the placenta wounds. As a result, my uterus is not able to contract back to pre-pregnancy size.

I, and my hematologist, have reached the point that a D&C; is the next step to resolving this. My blood condition adds a risk, but so does doing nothing. And in all honesty, I am so fed up with the bleeding and pads. I pass more blood than urine when using the bathroom.

Does anyone have experience having a D&C;? I don’t know what to expect for the procedure or the recovery.
