Post birth control Confused

I know this is a sensitive topic but I have a few questions, or concerns- I don’t know. My husband and I have been trying for well over 6 months. I was on birth control and went off to being trying but I never got my period. It’s been 6 months since my last period. My doctors say I have to wait until a year to be considered for having fertility issues. I know something isn’t right. I’ve read up on pcos and I have a big feeling that I have it. I was just wondering if anyone has experienced this before. Obviously periods are a little off once stopping the pill but it’s been 6 months and I’ve had nothing. Any advice?
