Healed nipple piercing came open?

I've been exclusively breastfeeding for 8 months. Prior to pregnancy, I had my nipples pierced but they were healed fully by the time I delivered and I've never had an issue with them. A few days ago one of my breasts got slightly engorged (not common as he doesn't sleep through the night yet and feeds on demand) and I began having pretty bad nipple pain after feeding. Now it is still red and painful where the hole used to be. Is there anything I can/should do? What if it gets infected? Is it safe to continue feeding from that side?

my piercings have been healed for about four years before this baby. 3 weeks old, ebf, and no kidding - I lactate out of the piercing sites. Even when there is no possible way any jewelery is going in. 
keep them clean, keep your lanolin close. 
should be fine to keep feeding, just keep a close eye on the piercing sites.

I’d keep antibiotic ointment on it and wash off before a feeding, if there isn’t any funky smell or any funky color it’s safe for baby if it’s sore for you to feed him it could be just inflammation maybe try some ice? I hope this helps, the antibiotic ointment heals my piercings when they get sore or I get worried about infection
