My boyfriend is the lazy, childlike boyfriend in romance novels - should we break up?

I guess the title probably says how I'm feeling about him right now. So my boyfriend and I are both 16 almost 17, and we're going into our junior year. We've been dating since the beginning of freshman year and I've never thought of breaking up with him before, but now.... I got my first job this summer and I finally got my driver's license and I've been super busy going to work and driving school (to get that good insurance discount) and he's been really weird, like making jokes about how I'm a bad driver, just kind of belittling me in general. Like when I passed my driving test, instead of being happy for me his first response was "you don't have a car tho". It's been really irritating, and he's been complaining like crazy about being bored and having nothing to do, but when I suggest he go volunteer or apply for a job he refuses. My mom actually brought up how she had noticed he was being kind of mean and petty, and I've really been thinking about that. Like I feel like I'm growing up and getting ready to be an adult, and he's refusing to mature. He's really been irritating me, complaining about being bored or having a headache when I'm at work from 8-12, then I ride the bus to driving school which lasts from 1-4:15, and then I go home and walk the dogs and stuff. I'm going to Canada in a few days, and I've already decided I'm going to tell him I don't have Internet access, to test if I miss him or not, because if I don't that's probably a really good sign right? Anyway. I just want to know if I'm imagining this stuff or if it seems kind of whack to you gals too.
