Being a Mommy Changes You
So I work at a hotel behind the desk as the “Front Desk Manager” (I’m not a manager that’s just my title).
So this morning these 3 kids came over to the front desk bc the smallest one (maybe about 4 years old) accidentally spilled his cereal all over the ground. The older two (probably teens) were trying to comfort him as he was crying super hard bc he felt so embarrassed and scared that we were upset with him.
I’ve never felt so strongly about comforting a child that wasn’t mine before. So I waited until my co worker came back and I walked over to where the two older siblings were trying to comfort him and get him to go get some more breakfast and I said “Hey buddy! We aren’t mad at you! It’s okay, everyone makes mistakes! I spill my cereal all the time! Don’t worry about it, you can go ahead and go get some more breakfast! We have pancakes and muffins, or you can go get some more cereal! Help yourself to ANYTHING you want over there! It’s okay, okay? We aren’t mad I promise!”
YALL I KID YOU NOT I ABOUT CRIED LOL
Idk why I’m just super emotional recently and just seeing him crying so hard bc he was so scared made me want to hug him so tight and go fix him up a good old breakfast!!
His brother whispered “thank you!” And I whispered back “You’re welcome!” & after i walked away he finally went back over the the breakfast area!
Idk why it made me so emotional or feel so strongly that I NEEDED to go comfort him but it made me feel pretty damn good that I helped the little sweetheart out!
A year ago I would of been way too shy to even attempt that. I just feel really happy that I helped someone. 🙂
