Iron and Vitamin D for babies?

just curious if Feb 18 mommies are already  giving or have started giving Iron and vitamin D supplements to  EBF babies .
or if you have chosen not to give this ?

hi! I was recommended iron and vit d for ebf baby bc I'm not starting solids until 6 months. ped said around now is when baby runs low on iron from mom so that's why it's suggested.  HOWEVER, after doing my own research, I learned that ebf babies get adequate iron from us bc iron in breastmilk is absorbed better.  also, I read that giving iron supplements or food fortified with iron before 6 or 7 months actually makes ebf babies less effective at regulating their iron levels later on. that said, I'm choosing not to do iron supplements but its clearly a much debated topic. 😊

We do vitamin d drops but pedi never said anything about iron.

I have them but I don’t ever remember to give them to her. Also born feb 18th. If I remember great if not I’m not worried she gets some solids now which helps.

Okay so I exclusively breastfed my son for 1 year and I gave him vitamin D drops here and there but eventually stopped. He’s 2 now and he’s perfectly healthy just had his 2 year check up. Now my daughter is 5 months and I haven’t been giving her vitamin D drops at all. I feel like she will be fine. The way I think about it is hundreds of years ago I don’t think there was such thing as vitamin D drops, right? Lol

I don’t give any supplements. He was a preemie so had his iron checked and it was fine.  I take vitamin D supplements so he’ll get it in my milk.

We did the vitamin D until 4 months and now she is on the iron, and she absolutely hates it. I need to pump so I can mix it in her bottle. It smells HORRIBLE.

Same. We have been doing vitamin D drops since birth. No one mentioned iron to us.

I give D drops daily and ped recommended a rice cereal with iron that I give her about every other day
