how do you breakup when you live together?

I love my boyfriend to death and we've been living together for a year but I'm finding out slowly that he's narcisitic and mentally abusive. I know he's trying to work on it but I'm just tired of dealing with it and I feel like I've lost myself. I don't know who I am anymore. I need to get out of this relationship but I don't know how to go about it since we live together and stuff...what do you ladies recommend

You can go about it a couple different ways, depending on what you feel would be best
1. You can talk to him, explain that it isn’t working out, and discuss what will happen. (Do you both leave the apartment, does he stay and you go, ect) and make a plan to amicably split 
2. You can make arrangements to live somewhere else (get a new apartment, move in with a friend ect) then remove yourself from the lease (if possible without his signature being needed), move all of your things over while he’s at work, and then when he gets home you can explain
3. You can find somewhere to stay for a couple weeks, move your stuff over one day, and then wait for your boyfriend to get home, explain the situation, and discuss what to do with the apartment (you get removed from the lease, he stays, you both leave, ect)
