How did your students react?

Question

I've been thinking a lot about how to adjust my students to the fact that I'm pregnant. I teach fifth grade math and science. Wonder how they will react. Anyone been here before or wondering the same?

I teach 7th English and mine were SO excited for me! I let them in a little on my baby/pregnancy and used it as a classroom bonding. I had the best year this past year and I think that's why. They loved helping me when I got huge and seemed to be kinder knowing I was pregnant.

I told my third graders before they got out of school last year. They were so happy and excited for me! They had actually been asking me since the beginning of the year if/when I was going to have kids.

I was pregnant last school year, I taught a K-1 combo. I hid it until 20 wks then I started wearing clothes that showed my bump. I waited for the kids to ask, which they did. They were so into it. Asked questions all the time, kissed/rubbed the belly, talked to it. Called it "my baby" like "how's my baby today"? now that I'm back at work I am teaching 2nd grade I looped with the 1st graders I had last year and they are all so curious about him and want to see pictures. They are begging to meet him. It's too cute! Needless to say, they will be excited and it will be fun sharing this experience with them!
